Freebies at Kroger this week

Here is a good post by Common Sense with Money about the Freebies at Kroger this week during their Mega event! Make sure you get 10, 20, 30 or more items so you are sure to get the extra $5.00 off per 10. I was not careful enough during the last mega event and somehow only had 9 items. I grouped my coupons for this sale in groups of 10 items so I will be sure not to make that mistake again.

Also, not included in the Mega event is the Yaki Soba noodles ($1.00 each). There are $0.50 off coupons which doubles to make them FREE as well.

Have fun saving!

Thanks, Common Sense with Money!

Few helpful hints for the beginning couponer

I thought I would re-post this previous entry for anyone who did not get a chance to read it yet.

I would consider myself a beginning couponer but trying to learn quickly. I wanted to share some helpful hints I have learned recently.

These are several of the most popular websites for printing coupons:

Coupons.com
This is a great site to print coupons. There is a limit per print per computer and also a total print limit for each coupon available. Coupons limits get reset throughout the month and everything is reset on the first of each month. You need to put in your zip code for the town you live. For whatever reason, if you put in the zip code for Beverly Hills (90210) there seems to be better coupons...try it for yourself.

Redplum.com and SmartSource.com are both good sites to print coupons on your home printer.

Proctor and Gamble.com
This is a site you need to register for but you get coupons and free samples in the mail. You can also register your Kroger plus shopper's card and your Tom Thumb Reward card with P&G. By doing this, you will be able to utilize the P&G eSAVER. You may choose your own coupons to load onto your grocery store card and also print a list of the items you choose for your shopping trip (these seem to have a two month expiration date).

AllYou.com
All You is a magazine that you can subscribe to or can purchase at Walmart. There is frequently $70.00-$90.00 worth of coupons. Their website also has printable coupons available.

These sites are useful for clipless coupons:

Upromise.com
We actually signed up with Upromise as one of the ways to save for college over four years ago when we had our first child. We have close to $2,000 in our Upromise account without doing anything special...just shopping with our credit card. Check out the site if you haven't done so already. You can load coupons on your Upromise credit card and the amount is not saved on the item but put into your account instead. Many popular retail online shops give a percentage of the total amount purchased towards your Upromise account.

*A really helpful hint that I recently learned:* If you are are on a blog or site that takes you straight to something that has a button for a coupon for a specific product then after the first coupon prints make sure you press the back button then refresh button and it should automatically print another coupon for you. This was especially helpful recently when Smithfield bacon was on sale for 2 for $6.00. I had (2) $3.00 Q and I was able to get both packages for FREE at Tom Thumb!

A friend of mine said she recently got a virus on her computer when she went to a site to print coupons. We have not any problems with viruses. It would be a good idea to have your virus protection software up-to-date just in case.

It is a good idea to learn from my mistake and keep a file or sheet of paper with all of your login and password information. As you start signing up for more sites it gets harder to remember all of the passwords.

Let's all use our reusable shopping bags

I have several different reusable shopping bags but most of the time I leave them in the car. It seems that keeping track of two kids, my huge coupon notebook and my purse is all I can handle. If we have plastic bags around our house then I try to bundle them all up and return them to a store that has a bin that recycles them or use them for kitty litter waste. There are now several stores in our area that are jumping on the bandwagon to encourage use all with some incentives to use our reusable bags.

CVS recently started their green bag tag system. You purchase a green bag tag from CVS for $0.99 and get it scanned whenever you come into the store. Every 4th time you are get your bag tag scanned, you earn a $1.00 Extra Care Buck towards a purchase. I wonder if you could also get them to scan it for drive through pick up of prescription drugs?

Target has printed on the bottom of their receipt “Save 5 cents every time you use a reusable bag.

Sprouts also has an incentive for using reusable shopping bags. You get $0.05 credit for each reusable shopping bag you use as well.

Does anyone know of any other stores that are giving a credit for reusable shopping bags?

Would you like FREE tickets to the Theater?

Go here to freenightoftheater.net and click on the left hand side "Find a Show". These FREE tickets are available in many cities all over the country. In the Dallas Metro Area, there will be a new set of FREE tickets released on Monday, October 19th at 12 PM for performances occurring Oct. 22-Oct 28th. Write a little note on your calendar so you won't forget.

The purpose of this program is to reach people who would not normally go to the theater. Many people who have gotten the free tickets enjoyed their experience so much that they return again to purchase a ticket at a later date.

Target: Few freebies and Deals, $12.01 spent

I was shopping at Kroger on Preston yesterday and and got so excited when I found a display of the Kellogg's Antioxidant Fiber Plus bars. Maybe other Kroger's might have this display as well? There was a pad of manufacturers coupons for $1.00 off a box of these bars. I took 8 of them to use at Target since I knew this deal was still going on until 11/02.

Deals at Target:

  • Buy 4 Kellogg's Fiber Plus bars (priced at $1.99 each) and get a $5.00 gift card. I used (8)$1.00 coupons, paid $0.99 for each box and got $10.00 back in Target gift cards to use for a future purchase. (This deal is not advertised in the sale ad or listed with the item but it worked for me) Ends up being FREE for 8 boxes plus overage.

  • Buy 3 Kid Cuisines on sale for $1.75 and used a MQ for $1.00/3 from November All You magazine. $1.42 each

  • Gold 'N Plump extra tender chicken breast on sale for $2.49 and used printable MQ for $1.00. $1.49 each

  • Degree Deodorant and Degree Fragrance mist $3.64 each (used 2 $1.50 MQ and $3.00/2 Target coupon)= $0.64 each

  • 4 TGI Fridays frozen south western egg roll boxes on clearance for $1.57 (used $2.00/4 MQ)= $1.07 each

Have you used your TGI Fridays burger coupon?

Our TGI Fridays FREE Jack Daniels Burger or Chicken sandwich coupons are expiring today that we received by becoming fans of TGI Fridays on Facebook. If yours are too you might want to take advantage of the coupons today!

Our family went out to eat last night. I don't even remember the last time I ate at a TGI Fridays so the menu was unfamiliar to me. We ordered a pizza kids meal for the boys to split with fruit and an extra mixed fruit on the side. It was plenty for the two of them. I ordered the Jack Daniels Chicken sandwich and hubby ordered the Jack Daniels Burger. Mine came with an option of several sides and I got the salad. Hubby got the sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed them very much. It was a great dinner out and our total to pay was $6.68 plus tip. We would have spent more going to a fast food restaurant. Thanks Woody!

On our receipt there is a survey code and we will get a coupon for a free appetizer when we fill it out online.

If you want more freebies at TGI Fridays you can sign up for more stripes through Facebook here

I am back and ready to blog, few Target deals

I am back to reality after a week at the beach, a nice long visit with my lifelong friend and her two twin girls. It was busy with 4 children in the house for 11 days. I wanted to really devote all of my time to everyone instead of running to the computer every hour. We have had a some kind of cold virus since her visit and are trying to get back to feeling well.

Anyways, I got some good deals in the last week. I went back to Target last night to see what I could find. I think I am falling out-of-love with Target at the moment. After spotting my favorite cashier and starting the check out process, he called over the "trainer" (I found out it was the trainer's last night working at that store). Several items I was purchasing were not working with the coupons I was using. I know many others all over the country have had success with them. I ended up having the items removed from the transaction, pulling them out of my bags and getting my coupons back. I have never had such a hard time at Target before. Thank goodness I was alone and my children were not with me. That would have been a nightmare! My experience last night has turned me off with shopping at Target for a while.

Some decent deals at Target I found were:

$2.44 for a 7.8 oz Colgate Total Whitening paste with Free toothbrush package on end cap
I used $1.00 off MQ making it $1.44. Inside the box was $10.00 worth of Target coupons for more Colgate-Palmolive products. I can combine these with manufacturers coupons for some good deals or free items. The coupons don't expire until 12/31/2009.

3 Free bath Buddies by Johnson and Johnson. I used 3-$1.00 off MQs from newspaper.
(I plan on sending my receipt to Johnson and Johnson for a Free Elegant Baby Bath Toy Frog Set.)

$1.25 Market Pantry fruit snacks

$1.09 dozen eggs

$1.50 each for 8 oz block of cheese

$4.99 Jimmy Dean D-lights breakfast sandwiches (4-pack), used $1.00 MQ and $1.00 Target Q= $2.99 each.

$1.75 Chex Mix, used 1 $0.50 MQ and $1.00 Target Q= $0.25-$0.50 each

$4.49 Glade Reed infusers and large candles, used $3.00 off MQ= $1.50 each
